PreFab UI Browser 1.4.1
PreFab Software releases version 1.4.1 of UI Browser, the "ultimate assistant" for GUI Scripting
North Andover, MA -- May 30, 2005 -- PreFab Software, Inc. and Bill Cheeseman today announced the release of version 1.4.1 of their popular product, PreFab UI Browser. With version 1.4.1, UI Browser now once again runs under Mac OS X 10.2 Jaguar. In addition, this is a minor bug-fix release recommended for all users.
UI Browser 1.4.1 supports all of the new GUI Scripting and accessibility enhancements introduced by Apple in Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger.
UI Browser is the "ultimate assistant" for Apple's GUI Scripting and accessibility technologies. It helps you to explore, manipulate and monitor the user interface of most Mac OS X applications running on your computer. With the push of a button, it also generates AppleScript statements to control even non-scriptable applications using GUI Scripting. No other utility provides all of the information you need in order to write scripts for GUI Scripting.
UI Browser 1.4.1 incorporates the following bug fixes:
- Resolved an issue introduced in UI Browser 1.4 that prevented it from running under Mac OS X 10.2.x Jaguar. UI Browser now once again runs under Jaguar.
- Resolved an issue introduced in UI Browser 1.4 that prevented it from honoring the Command-key and Shift-key settings in UI Browser's AppleScript preferences when copying generated AppleScript scripts to the clipboard or sending them to a script editor.
- Resolved an issue introduced in UI Browser 1.4 that prevented some URL attributes from being shown in UI Browser's View Text window.
- Added a missing 'show dialog' branch to the Safari - Search Google script in the UI Element Scripts (PreFab) folder.
UI Browser 1.4.1 requires Mac OS X 10.2 Jaguar or newer, but it works best with Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger. It is a recommended upgrade for all customers.

PreFab Software, Inc. has unmatched experience controlling the GUI via scripts, releasing PreFab Player in 1994 with continued sales and support today for Mac OS 9 and earlier. In 2003, PreFab entered the world of Mac OS X with PreFab UI Browser, a popular utility to support Apple's new GUI Scripting technology. PreFab UI Actions, implementing "universal attachability" for AppleScript, followed in 2004. Download fully-functional 30-day trial versions at http://www.prefabsoftware.com/. UI Browser and UI Actions are based on Bill Cheeseman's Cocoa framework for working with Apple's accessibility API.
