ScriptWeb...General Scripting Info...

Scriptable Apps

DRAFT #3. Lots of apps are still missing.

In the future, I hope that one of the general lists of Macintosh products includes information about scripting support, and (ideally) a separate list that points to the main entry for each product. In the meantime, we have started to gather some information here.

At present, I'm arbitrarily defining three levels of support: yes for serious support (even if incomplete), somewhat for useful features but lots of holes, and minimal for just barely beyond the required 4 (e.g. only doScript).

If I don't know otherwise, I'll assume "yes". Feedback welcome!

Acknowledgements: some information from Danny Goodman's AppleScript Handbook, The Tao of AppleScript by Derrick Schneider, Apple's Guide to Scriptable Applications and The Macintosh Solutions & Multimedia Developers Guide. (I have not included everything that is in the latter. Let me know if I left out something cool that you use.)

Standard caveats: inclusion in this list is not an endorsement; we take no responsibility for errors or omissions.
