"Like a player piano, Player mimics user input..."

When I was a kid, I was fascinated by player pianos. What struck me most was that instead of everything happening inside, out of sight, the keys actually went down as if a person were playing. Cool!

PlayerPiano was an obvious metaphor and an early codename for what became PreFab Player. We worked hard to create a simple, elegant product that filled a real market need. We hope Player makes your Mac experience a little less tedious, a little more productive and a little more enjoyable.

If you have any interest in player pianos, check out their many wonderful books on the subject!

In response to an earlier note here about the lack of good player piano info on the web, someone e-mailed me a note that they have a web page on piano rolls -- but I misplaced the e-mail! Perhaps it was The Patriot Piano Roll Company, or someone mentioned on their links page? If not and you find this note, drop me a line again.

Someone else noted that piano roll music of Eubie Blake, James P. Johnson, Jelly Roll Morton, Scott Joplin and others is available on CD from Biograph Records, P.O. Box 369, Canaan, NY 12029 & 16 River Street, Chatham, NY 12037.
